Brenda Zubay’s social justice advocacy and direct work with hundreds of clients who have been at the crosshairs of the New York City court systems, informed her interest in joining the Critical Therapy Institute. Brenda invites her patients to tell their unique story and all the life experiences that have brought them to this moment in time – including family, relationships, identity, and society. Her clinical approach is patient-centered, collaborative and informed by anti-racist and anti-oppressive ideals. Her unique clinical style has been described as non-judgmental, approachable, and curious.
Brenda has experience working with youth, adults, parents, and families. She has expertise in crisis intervention, family conflict and separation, harm reduction, the NYC special education system, and court involvement. She has also served as a Field Instructor and Advisor for Columbia School of Social Work, guiding and supporting graduate social work students in their educational and career choices.
Brenda received her Master’s in Social Work (MSW) from Columbia University, after graduating from New York University with her Bachelors in Social Work (BSW) and a double major in Politics. She has trained in restorative justice practices through Planning Change.
